Your privacy is important to us and we shall take care to safeguard it. The personal contact details that you provide us will NOT be used to advertise or market goods or services directly to you and we do not allow our clients to market directly to you.
This policy should answer any concerns you may have regarding your privacy. However, if you do not understand this privacy policy please refer to the Any Questions? section below to contact us. You must be aged 16 or over to register for ShopandScan.
Our Privacy Policy may change and therefore you should review it regularly; see our archive page for a summary of the relevant changes. We will of course notify you of any changes where we are required to do so.
When and what information do we collect?
Some personal data is collected when you volunteer to join ShopandScan and again when you scan in your household shopping. In particular, Kantar Worldpanel may collect (you will be prompted for consent) and hold:
For your information we have certain security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and/or alteration of the information that Kantar Worldpanel may collect. However, no security system is impenetrable. Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data held by us; any sharing with us is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use good practice procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
We acknowledge and accept that some of you may not wish to provide certain requested information but we are still happy to have you participate in our research programmes and will do our best to win your trust.
What do we do with your personal information?
We will publish summarised reports about ShopandScan research. These reports will not personally identify you or members of your household.
By sharing with us your purchasing information, information you choose to provide by completing surveys and information about your internet browsing behaviour that may be collected by accepting cookies of our third party market research partners, you acknowledge and consent that this information, along with other personal data, will be collected and used by Kantar Worldpanel for the purpose of market research on behalf of our clients, market research analysis, building a profile of your behaviour and interests and assigning segmentations to your profile, compiling reports, internal administration, internal training and/or to fulfil our obligations to you. Any information you provide to us will be treated with care and respect and we will not mislead you in any way.
Third party data sources may provide us information on your purchases (both online and off-line), your household and lifestyle information, and broader demographic and personal history details. We may combine this information with other information to create and enhance profiles that are shared as described in this Policy. For example, by looking at both web browsing activity and in-store purchases, our research may identify a consumer segment whose members view certain websites or advertisements when they are in the process of researching a product but are likely to make the actual purchase in a physical store. This data can help the manufacturer or seller of that product better understand where to find customers who may be interested in their products.
We may use your data, including personally identifiable information we may have obtained directly or through a trusted third party vendor, to enhance our or our customer's consumer segments explained above. We may use personally identifiable information in this way when clients or partners already have this information because it is usually the only way to match our profiles with those of our clients or partners. Although in each of these cases we permit these other parties to use your information to enhance their broader consumer segments, to which they then may target advertising, we prohibit these parties from using your information to target advertising to you individually. So in the normal course of your online activities, you may be a member of a broader consumer segment that sees particular advertising that your data helped create.
When working with a third party (such as another data provider) to supplement your profile, we protect your privacy by having our partner sign a confidentiality agreement stating that they will not share personally identifiable information or sensitive information with unauthorised parties. We instruct them to maintain the confidentiality, security and integrity of the information we provide and not to use the information for any purpose other than those we explicitly authorise. We may share information about you with authorised vendors and service providers, such as BI (The Business Improvement Company) who operate the Reward Accounts for each panel member, in connection with the services they perform for us. These third parties are prohibited from using your information for any purposes other than those we explicitly authorise.
You consent to us using your personal data to provide you with correspondence or any communications relating to market research which may require your involvement.
Who will we share your information with?
You consent to us sharing your personal data in the following circumstances:
Please be assured that, other than as set out here, we will not pass your personal data to a third party company without your prior consent.
