Q1. What is a barcode?
Most products you buy these days have barcodes printed on them. They are a series of stripes varying in width, representing a number of up to 13 digits. This number is usually printed beneath the barcode itself. The barcode uniquely identifies the type of product, the brand, size and manufacturer, but not usually the price.

Q2. What is the information used for?
Each week the information we receive from you is collated.
Reports are then produced which will look at which brands are
selling best in a wide range of markets from shampoo to wine, and
from cat food to nappies. Manufacturers and retailers use this
information to understand how popular or not the products they
make and sell are. Your input to this study is important to many
people so thank you, we appreciate your co-operation.
Q3. What if I buy something without a barcode?
Many items of your shopping may not have barcodes, such as fresh
fruit and vegetables. Please scan the relevant barcode for the item you have bought using the barcodes on the pink Fresh Food Barcode pages in your clicker guide.
Q4. What should I do if I scan the wrong barcode?
Please try to scan your purchases as accurately as possible. If you do scan the wrong purchaser, shop or till receipt total barcode from the guide book you can correct it by scanning the correct one immediately afterwards.
Q5. Should other members of my household scan their shopping?
Yes, we are interested in finding out about the purchasing of your whole household so please ask other members of your home to scan in the shopping they buy too, or scan it in on their behalf (please remember to scan in the name of the person who made the shopping trip if you do so).
All of the members living in your household should be listed on the purchaser page of your guide book. If there are any changes please contact us.
